Mindmapping

So here I am again, talking about mind mapping and brainstorming. Now the difference between mind mapping and brainstorming is that mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea while brainstorming is a group creativity technique designed to generate a large number of ideas for the solution of a problem.

Mind mapping includes all the main points from the topic we're discussing. For example, my class did 'happy life.' What leads to a happy life?

There can be many factors which we included for our mind map- money, health, family. These are just general factors which can be branched out into even smaller and more detailed points. Take money as an example. With money, we can buy most of the things we want in life and be happy. Be it ferrari, bungalow, prada bags or Louis Vuitton shoes. When we get what we want, no doubt we will be happy.

Of course there must also be other factors and not just wealth. Materialistic people who only needs money in their life will not be happy for their entire life, but only happy for a short period of time. Some things cannot be bought with money, that is, kinships, friendships and love.

Therefore, mind mapping gives us a clearer mind of what 'happy life' means and we can better visualise the whole concept of what leads to a happy life. Most of the time when I am not sure of what to write in an essay, or what to present, mind mapping would be the best choice to start with. Mind mapping provides the main points for you to better elaborate on the general factor, hence, it will be good to do mind mapping before the start of doing anything.

Brainstorming 2

Brainstorming is a sudden impulsion of idea a person gets when they have inspiration from something else. For example, I'm taking the course Fine Arts. I have to promote my art piece by brainstorming how a person would look at my art from a different perspective. For example, Vincent Van Gogh,  he painted 'Starry Starry Night' using the technique impressionism. He is able to capture the viewers' attention by painting out the beauty of a night filled with moon and stars. He is able to give viewers the visual movement of the wind amongst the night sky and the tree swaying side to side.

Fine Art students not only draw and paint, we have to think of our own ways to promote our art works so as to let viewers' better understand our ideology and the concept behind every stroke. Many people are able to draw well but what make ourselves stand out even more from the others?
The main job opportunity from Fine Arts might only be a few, maybe teachers, maybe artists. We will have to brainstorm the different procedures to succeed in selling our art pieces.

Brainstorming

Most people would say 'oh, brainstorming is a waste of time.' Some people would rather start with a proper work that they need to complete rather than brainstorming because it's an additional thing and it slows down the productivity of your work. But again, think twice. Brainstorming is an essential process to go through before the start of every work. It actually helps you think better and faster, and the most important thing, you will always be in the right track towards success.

Brainstorming will be something like a planning of what you want to do, or the thing you will have to do to make your work successful. Imagine going to war without any weapons, will you be in victory? It's the same things which goes to brainstorming and succeeding.

In brainstorming, we should always have the 5Ws1H- Who, What, When, Where, Why and How

Sharing my thoughts of a class presentation which my class had done, I can say that I am not very well prepared. People usually memorise the main points of a presentation but do not know how to elaborate the points to make it clearer.

Breaking 101 ways down to only 20 special ways make it more distinct and easier for brainstorming because it allows one to have a deeper impression of it. In order to have a effective brainstorming, one must show interest and it will only then bring one far.

Breaking The Rules

Many people have different definitions of breaking the rules, some would say doing something that we aren't supposed to, as written. For example,

Now, in other's mindset, breaking rules would be rebellious, unwise and so called 'bad', but it isn't always a bad thing if breaking some rules would bring you further up than the others. There wouldn't be handphones, televisions, or even contact lenses if people don't break the rules. Life continues without any improvement, and life will be uninteresting.

In other to succeed, one must have a different way of thinking, deeper imaginations and obviously, 'breaking the rules.' In one of my lessons, my class was asked to throw an egg from a story high to the ground without cracking the egg. We are only allowed to use masking tapes, threads, straws and a cup.

About half of my class didn't get their eggs cracked, maybe because we didn't throw it high enough and some used newspaper to wrap it around the egg, which we weren't allowed to. I, personally made something like a parachute using a plastic bag, with the egg hung by a thread in a cup, surrounded with straws. It didn't work quite well because it was not high enough for the 'parachute' to open.
It is thinking creatively, thinking out of the box and thinking what the norms won't think of which allows us to succeed in life.
